Sean Gumin is returning to his hometown of San Jose after spending over 15 years in the Midwest and the East coast. Sean holds a Master of Music from the University of Illinois, a Bachelor of Music from the University of Oregon and a Diploma in Band Instrument Repair from the Red Wing Technical College. While working on a Doctorate in Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a teaching assistant in bassoon and orchestral studies, he took a job with the Fox Products Corporation in South Whitley, Indiana where he was part of the design, production and repairs of oboes, bassoons and contrabassoons. Sean has worked as a band instrument repair technician in Chicago, Baltimore / Washington D.C., Minnesota, Illinois and California while also teaching privately and as a middle school band director. His primary teachers were Vernon Read and William Trimble at San Jose State University, Wendell Hanna of San Francisco State University, Timothy McGovern of the Montreal Symphony, Burl Lane of the Chicago Symphony and Roger Soren of the Louisville Orchestra.
